Our story begins at the historic town of Sankarankoil — the southern heartland of Tamil Nadu, the abode of the revered Lord Sankara Narayanar. It was here, in 1944, that Thiru T.M. Ganapathy Mudaliar set out on his remarkable journey in the world of textiles from the most humble beginnings at the local market.
What he carried were not just bolts of fabric — they were seeds waiting to take root and grow into something far greater. His passion for quality, his devotion to every customer, and his unwavering integrity set the foundation for a legacy that now spans eight decades and five cities.
From that single shop, Sri Ganapathy Silks grew into one of South India's most trusted textile names — built on the timeless currency of trust, woven thread by thread into every garment we have ever sold.

Humble Beginnings in Sankarankoil
Thiru T.M. Ganapathy Mudaliar starts his journey in textiles from the most humble beginnings at Sankarankoil's local market. With modest means but boundless determination, he opens a small cloth shop — the seed from which a textile empire would one day grow. This is where the legend of Sri Ganapathy Silks was born.

Fifteen years of relentless work culminate in the opening of the first formal showroom — "Sri Ganapathy Cloth Stores." Own weaving looms are established to ensure uncompromising quality. Every thread carries not just silk, but also honesty, care, and love. A new chapter of textile excellence begins in the Tamil heartland.

Entering the Manchester of South India
Sri Ganapathy Silks makes its bold entry into Coimbatore — the textile capital of South India — with a flagship showroom on the iconic Oppanakara Street. The business is restructured as a Private Limited company, marking a new era of corporate ambition rooted firmly in family values. Coimbatore embraces the brand with open arms.

A Grand Welcome in Theni
2012 marks the grand opening of the Theni showroom, welcomed by enormous crowds whose turnout testifies to nearly seven decades of earned trust. The same year sees the launch of two pioneering customer schemes — the celebrated Kalaiyazhagu silk savings initiative and Thedi Varum Aadi.
